1. Who we are
TR Immigration is the name of an independently operated website published at https://trimmigration.com. It is a personal publishing project rather than a registered company, and it is not a law firm. We publish news, analysis, and reference material about United States immigration policy. We do not provide legal advice or attorney services, and reading this site or contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit the site, why it is collected, and what choices you have. It applies to trimmigration.com and any subdomains we operate. It does not apply to third party websites we link to.
2. A note before you send us anything
Immigration matters often involve sensitive personal details. Please do not send us case numbers, receipt numbers, Alien Registration Numbers, passport or Social Security numbers, medical information, or documents relating to your immigration case. We do not need that information to answer a general question, we are not able to advise on individual cases, and messages sent to us are not protected by attorney-client privilege. If you need help with your specific situation, please consult a licensed immigration attorney or an accredited representative.
3. Information you give us directly
The only place on this site where you can submit information to us is our contact form. When you use it, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your stated reason for contact
- The content of your message
Submissions are stored in the website database and are also delivered to us by email so that we can read and reply. If you email us directly, we receive whatever you choose to put in that message.
4. Information collected automatically
This site does not track you. We do not use Google Analytics or any comparable analytics service, we set no analytics cookies, and we set no advertising cookies. The only information gathered while you read is the following:
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records information such as IP addresses, browser type, operating system, referring pages, requested URLs, and timestamps. These logs support security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. They are generated and retained by the host under its own practices rather than by us, and we do not use them to build a picture of individual readers.
- Technical cookies. Our caching layer may set cookies whose only purpose is to help pages load correctly and quickly. They are strictly necessary for the site to work, they are not used to profile you, and they do not follow you to other websites.
We also use Google Search Console and Google PageSpeed Insights. These report to us on how the site appears in search results and how quickly pages load. They work from Google’s own search and testing data and do not place cookies on your device through this site.
5. The Visa Bulletin tools
Our Resources page includes a Visa Bulletin tracker and a priority date checker. Any date or category you enter into the priority date checker is processed inside your own browser. It is not sent to our servers, is not saved to your device by the tool, and is not visible to us. Closing or refreshing the page clears it.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we have not done so.
- We do not set analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies.
- We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not display advertising on this site.
- We do not offer visitor accounts, and public registration is disabled.
- Comments are turned off, so nothing is collected through them.
- We do not take payments, so we never receive card or banking details.
- We do not build profiles about individual readers and we do not make automated decisions about you.
7. How we use information
- To read and respond to messages you send us
- To operate, secure, and maintain the site
- To detect and prevent spam, abuse, and attacks
- To comply with law and to establish or defend legal claims
8. Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal bases we rely on under the GDPR and UK GDPR are:
- Legitimate interests in running a secure website and preventing abuse
- Legitimate interests in reading and replying to correspondence you choose to send us
- Legal obligation where retention or disclosure is required by law
We do not rely on consent for cookies, because the only cookies this site sets are strictly necessary for it to function. Nothing here needs your permission because nothing here tracks you.
Because this site is published by an individual rather than a company, that individual is the data controller for the purposes of these laws. You can reach the controller using the contact details in Section 17.
9. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. The only cookies this site sets are technical ones that help pages function and load quickly. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no cookies that follow you across other websites.
You can still control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking them, deleting them, or refusing third party cookies. Most browsers also offer a private browsing mode. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site may not work as intended.
Because we do not track visitors and do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of.
10. Who we share information with
We do not sell your information. It is shared only in these situations:
- Service providers. Our web host, Hostinger, stores site data and processes server logs. Email delivery carries contact form notifications to us. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or a valid government request, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Change of ownership. If this site is ever transferred to someone else, or is later operated through a registered organization, information held for the site may transfer with it. We would post notice of any such change here.
11. International data transfers
This site is operated from the state of Texas in the United States, and the services it relies on may store and process information in the United States and other countries. If you are outside the United States, data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live. Where personal data is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, it is transferred under the safeguards that the relevant provider has put in place for its own services, which you can review in that provider’s documentation.
12. How long information is kept
- Contact form submissions and email correspondence: kept for as long as needed to handle your message and to keep a record of the exchange, and deleted when they are no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your message sooner.
- Server logs: generated and retained by our hosting provider on a rolling basis under its own retention practices.
Because we run no analytics, there is no long term record of your reading history for us to keep.
13. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, software is kept up to date, and administrative access is limited. No website, method of transmission, or method of storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us or held on our behalf. This is a further reason not to send us case documents or identification numbers.
14. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion, to request correction, to opt out of sale or sharing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that law.
If you live elsewhere in the United States, a number of states now provide comparable rights. We will handle requests from any reader on the same basis, wherever you live.
In practice, the only personal information we hold about a reader is what that reader has sent us. To exercise any of these rights, email us using Section 17 and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to ask you for information to confirm who you are before we act, and we will respond within the time required by the law that applies to you. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows it. There is no charge for making a request.
15. Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
16. Links to other sites
We link to government sources such as USCIS, the Department of State, and the Federal Register, to published court opinions, and to news organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Please review their policies before providing information to them.
17. Changes and how to reach us
We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law requires. When we do, the effective date at the top of this page will be revised. Continuing to use trimmigration.com after an update means you accept the revised policy.
